Weapon and Unit Balance Adjustments - Developer Log

Released 29 July 2026

Overview

Recent battlefield intelligence reports detail sweeping combat adjustments to frontline Hero armaments and elite Unit formations. Focus has been placed on refining Nodachi life-drain cycles, enhancing Musket close-quarters lethality, and addressing overperforming defensive and invulnerability states on the White Plume Guards and Queen's Knights.

Keynotes

  • Nodachi Sustain Shift: Life Drain mechanics reworked around Bloodlust and Blood Rage; seasonal Heroic Strike rune power shifted into base Specialty.
  • Musket Close-Quarters Lethality: Enhanced basic attack knockback and reduced defensive cooldowns establish a high-risk, high-reward mid-range skirmisher profile.
  • Glaive Combo Fluidity: Animation transition frames and engagement logic optimized across all skills to improve combo reliability.
  • Bastard Sword Armor Tuning (Upcoming): Planned shifts to Medium and Heavy Armour specialties to properly balance risk-to-reward ratios across weight classes.
  • White Plume Guards Defense Reduction (Upcoming): Adjustments incoming to limit the excessive damage absorption of the Last Stand state and reduce baseline damage reduction.
  • Queen's Knights Invulnerability Nerf (Upcoming): "Invincibility" duration on Run 'Em Through targeted for reduction to permit tactical counterplay.

Hero Class Changes

Nodachi

Buffs

  • Targeted buffs applied to specific, unnamed skill stats to ensure custom combos excel in Hero-killing and Unit-clearing.
  • (Combat Data Note): Average damage dealt to Heroes increased by ~50%.
  • (Combat Data Note): Average damage dealt to Units increased by >30%.
  • (Combat Data Note): Damage Absorption now ranks second among all weapons (behind Sword & Shield).

Skill Tree / Talents

  • Bloodlust: Combat cycle reworked. Life Drain attribute effects redistributed to strengthen the utility of different skills within the rotation.
  • Blood Rage: Combat cycle reworked alongside Bloodlust.

Doctrines

  • Heroic Strike Rune: Specific stats shifted directly into the Hero's base Specialty. This ensures Nodachi power remains controllable and healthy whether the rune is equipped or not, lowering the entry barrier for returning players.

Reworks

  • Hero Specialty: Absorbed base stats previously granted by the Heroic Strike rune.
  • Mechanics: Optimized animation transition frames, engagement logic, and damage detection logic.
  • Dragon's Leap (Upcoming): Guard Break feedback when casting during Blood Rage will be optimized to match standard operational rhythm.

Musket

Buffs

  • Basic Attacks: Added a knockback crowd-control effect to right-click basic attacks.
  • Dodge / Roll: Reduced the stamina cost of rolling.

Weapon Skills

  • Blackpowder Grenade
  • Buffed the damage multiplier.
  • Simplified the logical execution for throwing explosives.
  • Caltrops
  • Reduced cooldown.
  • Added new mechanic: Now slows down both enemy Units and enemy Heroes.
  • Close Combat
  • Shortened cooldown.
  • Optimized handling.
  • Skirmisher
  • Shortened cooldown.
  • Optimized handling.

Reworks

  • Gunplay Mechanics: Optimized the combat camera, close-range target ballistics, and ammo energy drop-off to improve handling and performance during close-range Hero duels.

Glaive

Buffs

  • Overall raw damage output numbers increased.

Weapon Skills

  • God of Battles: Role redefined to provide distinct utility as part of the Glaive's offensive/defensive core.
  • Heat of Battle: Role redefined to provide distinct utility as part of the Glaive's offensive/defensive core.

Reworks

  • Mechanics: Optimized transition frames and engagement logic across all skills to ensure attacks connect reliably and combos flow smoother.
  • Class Identity (Upcoming): Further damage output boosts planned via enhancing existing or introducing new passive mechanics. This will provide more stable defensive support and damage windows, reducing reliance on landing single sweeping skills.

Bastard Sword

Buffs

  • Heavy Armour Specialty (Upcoming): Increasing the rewards for the Heavy Armour playstyle, allowing it to perform to the expected standard of a Heavy Armour weapon in all-armour combat.

Nerfs

  • Medium Armour Specialty (Upcoming): Tweaking (reducing) damage output and armor penetration to correct a highly inflated reward-to-risk ratio.
  • Dodge Mechanics (Upcoming): Reducing the "invincibility" window during dodges.
  • Dodge Mechanics (Upcoming): Capping the stamina cost of dodging.

Reworks

  • Specialty System (Upcoming): Reapportioning damage, defense, and mobility across the Specialty system to ensure Light, Medium, and Heavy Armours possess distinct advantages and clear limitations.

Unit Changes

White Plume Guards

Buffs

  • (Upcoming) Block drain penalty will be slightly reduced.

Nerfs

  • (Upcoming) Shortening the time window during which the Last Stand state can absorb major damage.
  • (Combat Data Note): Current defensive hit-absorption is 1.5 times higher than the second-place unit; upcoming nerfs intend to raise the mechanical skill floor required to sustain this mitigation.

Active Skills

  • Long Live the Han
  • (Upcoming) Duration of the triggered Last Stand state will be reverted.
  • White Plume Formation
  • (Upcoming) Base damage reduction will be lowered.
  • Shattering Bash
  • (Upcoming) Base damage reduction will be lowered.

Bugfixes

  • Fixed an issue where repeatedly tapping the 'X' key to Form Up constantly refreshed crowd-control immunity. Entering formations outside of the active skill White Plume Formation (whether moving or holding standard formation) will no longer grant CC immunity.

Queen's Knights

Nerfs

  • (Upcoming) Overall defensive capabilities will take a slight nerf to introduce clear tactical counters on the battlefield.

Active Skills

  • Run 'Em Through
  • (Upcoming) Duration of the invincibility effect (currently lasting nearly a third of the skill duration) will be reduced.

Schedule

  • Vanguard PTR: Testing for the upcoming (Future) adjustments outlined in this codex will commence next week.
  • Conqueror's Blade League (CBL): Live combat data and Unit/Class performance will be heavily monitored as the CBL approaches, with ongoing roundtable discussions scheduled for captains, commanders, competitors, and streamers.
